Lord, I was born a rambling (wo)man

I’ve been thinking this morning/noon/afternoon. It’s a dangerous when I am allowed to just sit and think and browse the webs.

Side note: What kind of generation are we that can find anything we want as soon as we decide we want it? The Google generation. I was talking to my friend Jeff who graduated with me last year. He said he remembers conversation when people would say, “Aw, what was the name of that song?” Or, “who was the actor in that movie?” And people would actually sit around and discuss to sort it out instead of immediately consulting the Google God.

Side side note: Thinking about this makes me miss grilling out on the driveway in the summer with my family, riding my bike down the road in our neighborhood. Eating buttery corn on the cob, barbecue chicken (which is ok the way my mom makes it, not dripping in barbecue, but just a light taste of it), and the mandatory salad. My mom is badass in case you all didn’t know.

I’ve been having issues with dough lately. I’ve always thought that I would like to open a bakery, specifically a pâtisserie. However, recently my attempts at utilizing Betty have yielded pretty crappy results, and then Sean and I end up turning to cookies to solve my baking dilemmas. “We may not be able to make (fill in the blank), but we can always make yummy cookies.” It’s even become habit to buy large masses of chocolate chips at the grocery store because we know what’ll happen each weekend. Sigh. You know when I’ve failed at one baking project when I make cookies quickly afterward.

Here’s a recipe I really want to try this weekend: Homemade Glazed Doughnuts. Yum.

I only wish I were as awesome as the Pioneer Woman.

Sean and I are planning on trying a new dinner recipe tonight from another on of my favorite bloggers. Cheeseburger Flatbread Melts from Kevin and Amanda. Last time we tried one of their recipes, Cheeseburger Macaroni, Sean liked it, and I thought it was… well, too much cheese. (Cheese is another thing I don’t like. I’ve been informed that my general distaste for American staples such as cheese and barbecue makes me a little suspicious, perhaps I’m on a few no-fly lists?)

In other news, Mitten Head has to go to the vet tomorrow for a kitty biopsy and a teeth cleaning. After that, the vet will determine if my Lyra cat has to have her teeth extracted. Sean and I also have our first soccer game with Purple Haze tomorrow night.

We’re both still pretty sore from our scrimmage yesterday, so hopefully we’ll do alright.
