Happiness vs Jealousy

The weather here in Hotlanta is nice and cooooool. It feels so go. This morning the high was 58! It’s fall-y already, and I’m totally in love with it. While we’re rather urban, the perfectly landscaped trees are one fire with oranges and reds. It’s almostlike Tennessee. Only with more people and fewer trees.

TN fall colors, back when I had hair.

Nonetheless, we have entered my favorite season. Then comes winter my second fave! Yay! I feel alive this time of year. Is that odd? Feeling alive while everything else is dying? I’m going to say it speaks toward my character.

In other news, I read an excellent post on one of my favorite blogs the other day, Health Tipping Point. It was titled, “Life is Not a Supermarket” and was about how, in life, there isn’t a finite supply of happiness. That, when someone else achieves something great, it doesn’t mean that they’ve taken our chance to achieve something great. There’s no need to be jealous of someone’s happiness, because, unlike a grocery store, the supply of happiness in the world doesn’t run out. There’s more than enough to go around.

I have so much to be thankful for! Especially my family's acceptance of my ability to ruin holiday pictures!

I needed to read that. I have a really bad habit of being secretly jealous. I think I’m getting a lot better, but it helps to know that other people understand the struggle. While I’m only 23, I often expect bigger things for myself that I know people who have what I want, worked a LONG time to achieve.

Sometimes I just have to remind myself: “Slow down, Carolyn! You’ve got your whole life to earn what you want. Enjoy the process! And be kind to others too!”

I recommend you read the Healthy Tipping Point blog above! It may inspire you! Happy Halloween!
