Excedrin + Boxing

This is a combo I don’t recommend if you are hyper-sensitive to caffeine. Especially when your boxing class begins at 7:30pm. In the middle of class it felt like I just couldn’t get any air in my lungs. Like I was hyperventilating and about to pass out. When I’m in the zone, I have a hard time slowing down or stopping, so I probably pushed myself too hard. But yikes!

During class, I could not figure out why this was happening. I thought maybe I was coming down with whatever Sean had, and congestion was blocking my airways or something.

Then I got home and the uncomfortableness started. My stomach started hurting, and I felt like I was going to vomit. I felt dizzy, and my heart was beating fast.

Then suddenly, while I was tossing & turning in bed I remembered that I’d taken two Excedrin right before class in hopes of dulling this headache I’ve had since Saturday. According to the Excedrin website, one dose of the pain meds has about as much caffeine as a cup of coffee, which for most normal people would be ok.

But for me, who has super caffeine sensitivity, it was like injecting it straight into my veins right before bedtime. I didn’t get to sleep last night until some time after midnight. With a 5:30am wake-up call, that was rough. All night I kept thinking, “If I go to sleep now, I’ll get ____ hours of sleep.” Stressing over sleep made me even more anxious and less likely to relax.

I finally must have fallen asleep, because I’m awake now. But, ugh, no more Excedrin for me.

Does anyone else have weird reactions to typically “mundane” ingredients in everyday stuff?

P.S. Happy December! Can you believe it’s already the end of the year?
