So, I hate to say it, but Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! was a little bit of a let down. I don’t know if it was because I hyped myself up so much or because I didn’t really know what to expect, but I just wasn’t feeling the show last night.
For one, it’s false that “There’s no bad seat in the Fox Theatre.” Because not only could Sean and I not see the panelists, but we couldn’t see Carl or Peter, either. We had a great view of the back of some old people’s heads though. Not only is the show just funnier on the radio, you don’t have to listen to it with 4000 other annoying people.
The couple behind us had to comment as loud as they could on EVERY game that was played. I didn’t see the woman, but the man was HUGE. Too big for a Fox Theatre seat, but he tried to cram himself into one and in the process kept knocking his cane into the back of my head and shaking Sean’s seat. It was like sitting in front of a spoiled 4-year-old on an airplane.
In terms of the actual show, the content was funny but it was a little hard to hear. I told Sean I felt like I was at a state of the union because the audience clapped after every. flipping. sentence.
If you’ve ever thinking about going to a Wait Wait show, I’d save my money unless the tickets were free or I was willing to pay for really good seats, and then maybe buy out the seats in front of and behind me.
At least it’s Friday, though! And though I didn’t get much sleep last night, I’m going to try to make the best of it.
