Working on Listening

Yesterday was a blur. We have a bunch of financial advisors in this week, and it seems like I’m spending a lot of time meeting people I speak to on the phone all the time as opposed to working. Honestly, it’s kind of nice to see the faces who you’re writing for beyond the professional head shots they send in. So far, they’ve all been super nice.

I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! Soon enough we’ll be TingGIF. Right?

I feel like I’ve been go-go-going nonstop for the past few weeks, so I don’t feel like I have anything meaningful to write today.

My family (back in TN) has been struggling with a lot of stuff. You know? That stuff life always throws your way when you just need a break. From talking to a few family members, I’ve garnered one thing. I’m telling you about this because I think most people could benefit from just knowing it.

Sometimes you just need to listen.

When people come to you with their struggles, they don’t always need someone to give them the answers. A lot of the time, people just need someone to hear them. You don’t have to agree with what someone’s saying, but that doesn’t mean you have to refute it immediately. Or at all.

People just want to know they’re being heard. Even if you find it annoying. Or offensive. Or angering.

Stop talking and just listen.
