So guess who stayed home yesterday because I may have given him the flu? Poor Sean has a nasty case of whatever I had. Luckily, he didn’t get the stomach part of it, but he sure is coughing up a storm and can’t breathe. The alarm went off yesterday morning, and I found him snoozing away on the couch at 5am because he didn’t want to wake me up with his coughing and snotting. Poor guy.
Mitten took advantage of the snuggling opportunity.
Because of that, yesterday was pretty much a time suck while I took care of him and he slept. Being sick really stinks! While I’ve been home and sick and taking care of the sick boyfriend, I’ve been spending a lot of time reading the blog Young House Love. This little family does a bunch of DIY stuff, sprucing up their older home to look amazing.
While I’ve been really inspired by their go-get-’em attitude, they’ve also really changed my perspective on need and want. I know that’s not the intention of their blog, but just tidying up my apartment and lighting some candles made me feel a lot better about what Sean and I DO have and my recent “I want” kick.
I’m sure other people do it, too. But I spend probably too much time looking at Zillow.com to see what houses are available in our area for what price points. We’re not planning on buying a home any time soon, but it’s always nice to look. Before, I’ve always felt like we could never afford anything “nice” like I see all my friends on Facebook buying. But the Young House Love blog inspired me to look past the elements of homes I’d deemed “ugly” before to see them as something with potential.
Like Pudge’s house-bag.
I think that perspective goes a long way past just looking at homes for sale on the internet.
I need to start looking at more things in life as opportunities with potential as opposed to something ugly that happens to me. Life is about making the best of what you have. Good things and bad things are going to happen, but your perspective and attitude determines how you let them affect you. So make the best of what you’ve got! And have a great Thursday!
