Soccer and DIY Weekend

Happy Monday! I hope everyone’s weekend was fun. Mine was full of things I love: soccer, sleeping, good food, and DIY projects. Soccer was way fun this weekend. Both my teams did really well, and I even had a few assists (no goals). Sunday I stayed to help another team out, and when their spare girl showed up at halftime, I changed shirts and joined the opposing team. I don’t care who I’m playing for, as long as I’m playing soccer.

Italian Vegetarian Hoagies

Italian Vegetarian Hoagies… and peas

But let’s rewind. Friday night we did the regular old grocery shopping and making of dinner. I’ve made the Enchilada Mini Pizzas a go-to meal when I’m tired and don’t feel like making dinner. They’re quick and easy and get the job done. We spent Saturday morning at Lowe’s and cleaning the house. Sean did most of the cleaning while I checked out some nearby consignment and thrift shops. I’m really surprised at how expensive things were there. If they were specialty shops, I could understand the outrageous prices. But paying a lot for used furniture and the like seems pointless to me. Things cost as much as new furniture and paintings at some of these places. Oh well. I also stopped by Hobby Lobby to get some fabric and padding to turn an old coffee table into a bench. I took a lot of pictures, so I’ll make sure to post a DIY sometime this week.

How to Upholster a Coffee Table into a Bench

That’s my crafting face. Also, those are my crafting pajamas…

Haters gonna hate.

After we kicked butt in soccer on Saturday (I’m talking 8-0), Sean and I headed out to try a new Thai place by our new house–Thai Emerald. The verdict? So. Darn. Tasty. Sean got the garlic chicken and I got mixed vegetables with tofu. All I can say is that I can’t wait to have the leftovers for lunch today. We headed home to get clean after sweating it up at soccer, and then went to see the new movie Oblivion (the one with Tom Cruise) in the theater. SPOILER ALERT. Scroll past the next picture if you don’t want to know what happens. Oblivion is essentially 2001: A Space Odyssey (it even has a space ship called Odyssey) plus the film Moon. Don’t pay to see it. Wait till it comes out to rent.

My staple gun face

My staple gunning face… Also my pajamas + jeans. Don’t judge.

Sunday was lazier. We went back to Lowe’s after I discovered I had the wrong staples for my gun. I worked on my coffee table to bench project until it was time for soccer. We played 2 games–winning the first and I switched teams the second. After soccer we came home and made those Italian Vegetarian Hoagies and started season 2 of Game of Thrones! I also managed to eat 2 servings of ice cream while watching. So good.

Also, I PRed my max rep dead lift to over my body weight this morning in CrossFit! What what?!

Now, on to Monday! I hope yours is great. Try to see the positive in potentially negative situations. There’s always a silver lining if you look for it!
