Running and CrossFit Competitions

I’m so excited about running! Last night I joined in my gym’s Running/Endurance class. It was at 7pm, and was a little rainy, and I was the only one there. (There’s another class Monday mornings.) It worked out perfectly since it was the coach (who’s also a fellow 5AMer) was able to tailor the running to my current ability. Remember last week when I couldn’t even run across the garage! It’s like my legs just figured it out somewhere along the way.

I RAN!

I’m so so so excited to be able to do it. We ran 2 warmup laps of 400m nice and easy, and then did 4 intervals of jogging 400m then rowing 300m. It was hard. My body’s definitely gotten used to not running, but I felt so good afterward. I was hesitant to try sprints, which is why we stuck to jogging. And I only felt a little bit of pain (probably more like the use of muscles that haven’t been put to work in a while), after lap 3 or 4.

It was so glorious!

I’m taking today and tomorrow off from CrossFit since Saturday I’m competing in the (beginner division!) of the World Wide WOD. I’m sure I’ll be the slowest one there, but since I can’t race yet and soccer’s still a no-go (one slide tackle and I’m outtie again), it’s nice to be able to compete somewhere.

Here are the workouts:

5 Rounds

  • 5 deadlifts (75#)
  • 10 burpees

2 Rounds

  • 20 snatches (45#)
  • 20 wallballs (8#)

Pseudo Chipper

  • 15 Cleans (45#)
  • 15 sit-ups
  • 15 box step ups (20′ box)
  • 15 jumping pull-ups
  • 30 single unders
  • 15 KB Swings (18#)
  • 15 burpees
  • 15 lunges (no weight)

I think we get about an hour in between each one. Sean said he might come, so maybe I can get some pictures of the event. We’ll see! Happy Thursday!
