A Wednesday List

1. Sean and I traveled to Florida this past weekend to attend the wedding of one of my college roommates. It was a lovely ceremony and reception. We didn’t end up staying for the whole thing, as the 6.5 hour drive a few hours before had us both wiped. That, and we were going to have to repeat it again the next day. It was great to see friends from college and hear how everyone is growing up, though. Everyone in my college class is getting married and buying houses and having babies. It’s like we’re adults or something.

2. Workouts this week just haven’t been happening for me. I don’t know if I’m eating different, flatlining because of my leg, worn out from taking up running again, etc. I can’t pinpoint the issue, but my performance is sort of just all weak efforts and last place finishes recently. Halp.

3. Tuesday was weirdly emotional for me. I got all teary-eyed listening to an Atlanta StoryCorps piece in my car in which a woman interviews her mother who has Alzheimer’s. She asked her mom if there was a test she could take when she was 30 that would tell her she had Alzheimer’s, would she? The mother said yes because there are things you need to prepare for and you’d want to know to get the most out of each day.

The second teary-eyed-ness came later, at work, when I saw on Instagram that a kitten I had been following named Wasabi had passed away. Yes, I’m a sap when it comes to pets. The kitten was attacked by crows, and these wonderful people took it in and bottle fed it and got it the care it needed. Then Wasabi started having seizures. Yesterday they posted one last picture of it with a goodbye message.

4. I’m really excited for Labor Day weekend, if for no other reason than I get an extra day to sleep in. Hooray for sleep! Happy Wednesday!

    1. Now that I re-read this, it does sound that way. Last time I complained about being lame during workouts someone else said the same thing. I’m pretty sure (99.99%) I’m not, though. Thank the Jeebus.
